An influential Northern Senator, who also heads a sensitive committee in the Senate, is currently under close surveillance for allegedly spearheading terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping activities in the country.
According to competent sources who spoke to Politics Nigeria, the lawmaker has been identified as one of the sponsors and financiers of banditry and other terror-related activities in the North.
National Assembly sources reveal that the senator who hails from the North-East is expected to be held accountable for his alleged involvement in these heinous activities.
“Many are aware of the Senator’s unholy relationship with the enemies of the state, including the number of times he had held nocturnal meetings with kidnappers, bandits, and terrorists in Abuja, the seat of power,” one source disclosed.
POLITICS NIGERIA also gathered that the Senator is heavily linked to an outspoken controversial Islamic scholar. Furthermore, the parliamentarian is said to interfer with the ongoing efforts of security and law enforcement agencies in combating Terrorism.
“He knows those behind the kidnapping of female students from the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, and the corps members from Akwa Ibom State who were abducted on their way to Sokoto”
“He is the chief sponsor and financier of banditry in the North,” one source asserted.
“We keep asking why banditry persists but recent events have proved that there are enemies within the system trying to undermine the administration of President Bola Tinubu for their selfish interests.”
“Imagine a member of the National Assembly sponsoring bandits’ kingpins, who he invites to Abuja and hosts for days while they strategies on how to distabilise this administration.”
“I don’t even know how the same man, a protégé of a prominent sheik who has been banned from travelling to some countries because of his ties to terrorists’ groups, became a senator in the first place. Now he is taking advantage of his privileged position and exposing security information to the same people it’s targeted at stopping.”
“This suspect was supposed to assist in exposing the mules and the enemies within, but he interfered to scuttle the investigation.”.
