#NorthIsBleeding: Northerners take to the streets to protest worsening insecurity [VIDEO]

#Nomorebloodshed protest is beginning to build up live across the North and Abuja.

Some Nigerians from the northern part of the country are holding demonstrations calling for an end to mindless killings, and for authorities to sit up.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some protesters are currently at the Unity Fountain, Abuja. Many of them speaking to the press are criticising the activities of terrorists known locally as bandits.

The bandit conflict in northern Nigeria has risen due to continued insecurity and possible jihadist influence.

Large-scale weapon smuggling has allowed criminal gangs access to heavy weapons, increasing the deadliness of attacks. Underequipped local and federal forces coupled with the harsh terrain make offensive actions into the forest dangerous and susceptible to ambushes and attacks.

Continued government inability to effectively deal with the problem has also allowed the insecurity in northern Nigeria to spread and grow in ferocity.

The recent wicked burning to death of travellers by bandits seem to be the occurrence that infuriated northerners, as they are now determined to keep the government on their toes.
