The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has denied allegations that NSA Nuhu Ribadu facilitated the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, to the city on Saturday.
Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, had alleged that NSA Ribadu arranged two aircraft to transport Aminu Ado-Bayero back to Kano early on Saturday.
The NSA’s spokesman, Zakari Mijinyawa, refuted the claims, labelling them as false.
Mijinyawa urged political actors to avoid spreading misinformation, saying:
“I read the comments on social media, it is untrue. The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano.
“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order.”
This statement comes amidst heightened tensions in Kano following a Federal High Court order preventing the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The situation has been further complicated by allegations and counter-allegations regarding the involvement of high-profile officials in the emirate’s affairs.
