The new commandant of the Nigerian Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu, has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of officers in the Federal Capital Territory.
Odumosu, while speaking after the valedictory parade held in honour of his predecessor, lamented the rampant cases of theft, vandalism of traffic and street light including many other infrastructures as indications that the officers were not doing their job
“All eyes are on the FCT Command because the seat of power is here. Abuja is the focal point for all security agencies and we cannot afford to be found wanting in our duty. Crimes and criminalities have to be stopped,” Odumosu said.
“We must protect critical national infrastructures and assets, and fight those responsible for thefts of manholes and other sewage facilities in the FCT.”
Odumosu, however, assured that he would leave no stone unturned to change the narrative of the command for the better, adding that the Corps’ Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, had mandated him to restructure, rejig and reorganise operations for optimum performance.
He said he was also tasked to ensure the recovery of all stolen items and facilities belonging to the government from vandals.
“We must re-set our minds to make Abuja and its environs crime-free. We require men of vision, discipline and dedication to carry out the task and I will not relent until I get your cooperation to carry out the assignment because I know you too have the capacity,” Odumosu said.
