Obasanjo lacks democratic principles – Orji Kalu

The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo lacks democratic character and principles.

The former governor of Abia State made this known in his newly released autobiography, ‘My Life’, a copy of which was made available to POLITICS NIGERIA.

According to the Senator, Obasanjo’s lack of democratic character affected the country’s unity during his time as the Nigerian leader.

Kalu alleged that Obasanjo failed to develop the South East and give the Igbo ‘a sense of belonging’.

Kalu noted that the former President refused to honour and respect the Igbo, ignoring them as if he was still at war with the Igbo nation.

He, however, revealed that during his time as Abia governor, he chose honour for the Igbo and refused to support Obasanjo who he said was in charge of the national treasury.

The lawmaker said he fell out with the former President because his interest in politics is different from that of other Igbo or Nigerian politicians.
