Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has dissolved his cabinet, ahead of the inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the new governor on November 12.

The development marks the end of Obaseki’s eight-year tenure, which began on November 12, 2016.

The dissolution of the cabinet followed a valedictory session held at the Government House in Benin City, where Obaseki expressed gratitude to his team for their contributions to the state’s progress. His deputy, Godwins Omobayo, moved the motion for dissolution, seconded by Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Osilama Okuofu.

During the session, Obaseki commended the council members for helping drive the government’s vision of making Edo State great again. He also thanked the citizens of the state for their support, prayers, and collaboration throughout his administration.

In turn, cabinet members praised Obaseki’s achievements across various sectors and thanked him for the opportunity to serve the people of Edo State. The outgoing commissioners and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies presented awards and gifts to honour the governor. The valedictory session concluded with a dinner in Obaseki’s honour.
