The Obidient Movement has congratulated Professor Joash Amupitan on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The movement expressed optimism that his leadership will usher in a new era of credible and transparent elections in Nigeria.
In a statement jointly signed by Nana Kazaure, Director of Strategic Communications and Media, and Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the movement, the group extended its “warm felicitations” to the newly appointed electoral chief.
They described his emergence as an opportunity to restore public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system.
The statement reads, “We are hopeful that your tenure will mark a significant milestone in the electoral history of Nigeria,” the statement read.
“We look forward to seeing a new electoral act that will enhance the credibility, freedom, and fairness of our elections, particularly as we approach the 2027 General Elections.”
“Congratulations once again, and we look forward to a new era of electoral excellence under your leadership,” the statement added.
Prof. Amupitan’s appointment, recently approved by the Council of State, follows the conclusion of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure as INEC Chairman.
His leadership is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the conduct and integrity of the 2027 general elections.
