A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has been named as an Ambassador of the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Ezekwesili bagged the ambassadorial role after being named by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She was selected alongside two other Africans: Joyce Banda, a former President of Malawi and Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, the Senior Associate for Africa and Regional Director at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI).

Grain From Ukraine is a humanitarian food program that was launched on November 26, 2022, on the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the Holodomor of 1932-1933, by President Zelenskyy.
According to authorities in Ukraine, the idead is aimed at supplying grains to the poorest countries in Africa. The program aims to provide grain to at least 5 million people by the end of spring 2023.
