A former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu, on Wednesday bemoaned the nefarious activities of the so-called unknown gunmen behind the insecurity being witnessed in the southeast region of Nigeria.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some criminals in Imo State were reported to have killed and chopped off the private part of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ukam Efut, on Tuesday evening at a security checkpoint at Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area (LGA).
The policeman was shot dead by the assailants before severing his manhood.
Reacting to this latest disturbing news emerging from the southeast region, Odinkalu stated that the destructions, mindless brutal killings and decapitation are detestable.
“This #CampaignOfDecapitation taking place in and around Imo State is beyond abominable.
“Community leaders, women, security agents have bn killed and decapitated, with their body parts missing or their heads displayed in markets. This can’t be normalised,” Odinkalu wrote on his known Twitter handle.
