The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday asked that the dismissed case of Segun Showunmi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for the 2023 election, should be heard.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Showunmi filed a case at the high court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, but the case was thrown out. Subsequently, he proceeded to the appeal court, which admitted his petition against his opponent, Ladi Adebutu’s lawyer’s plea to throw out the suit — like it was done at the high court.
“Sincerely Set!!! Team Segun Showunmi, I have just been informed that the court of appeal has ruled in our favour! Indeed our case is now on! Segun Showunmi for Governor Ogun State!!!” Showunmi wrote on his official Facebook page while reacting to the update.
Meanwhile, the Adebutu /Adekunle Akinlade Campaign Organisation has asked its members and supporters to continue to rally behind its candidates.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan is expected to put to bed the controversies surrounding who is the authentic candidate of the PDP in Ogun soon.
