Ondo 2020: I will defeat Akeredolu, Jegede, says Ajayi

The embattled deputy governor of Ondo State and candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, has boasted that he will defeat his principal, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and his other rival, Eyitayo Jegede in Saturday’s governorship election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Governor Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seeking a second term in the office, while Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is seeking to be the governor of the state after losing out in the 2016 governorship election.

Speaking at the ZLP mega rally in Owo Local Government on Wednesday, Ajayi noted that he will win the forthcoming election with a landslide victory, urging his opponents to forget about winning the poll.

The deputy governor, however, asked the security agencies to provide adequate protection for the people of the state during the election.

He regretted the violence that claimed people’s lives in clashes among rival political parties, warning his supporters not to take arm against anybody but to go out and vote.

Ajayi condemned the incessant attack on his supporters, adding that it was sad that five people had died in the last few weeks due to violence.

He said: “We are here to campaign. We are not here to fight anybody. Please, don’t allow anybody to provoke you. Vote and protect your votes.”
