The All Progressives Congress Governorship Screening Committee for Ondo state has disqualified Dr Segun Abraham, an ally of the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
This newspaper reports that the panel disqualified only Abraham out of the 12 aspirants who had purchased the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms for the July 20 governorship primary election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Abraham had in 2016 lost out to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in circumstances that nearly threatened the victory of the party at the polls.
Abraham’s loss in 2016 was reportedly one of the reasons why Asiwaju Tinubu moved against the former National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
The aspirants who participated in the screening were; Joseph Olusola Iji, Odimayo Okunjimi, Olayide Owolabi Adelami, Isaacs Duerimini Kekemeke, Olusola Oke Alex, lfeoluwa Olusola Oyedele and Olajumoke Olubusola Anifowoshe.
Others were Awodeyi Akinsehinwa Akinola Colinus, Olubukola Adetula, Dr.Abraham Olusegun Michael, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu and Dr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
