In a show of solidarity, governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rallied on Tuesday to support the party’s candidate in the upcoming Ondo governorship election.
The rally, led by Ademola Adeleke, Osun State Governor and Chairman of the Ondo State Governorship Campaign Council, emphasised unity within the PDP despite recent controversies involving the removal and reinstatement of national officials.
“We are one strong family,” Adeleke assured party supporters, highlighting that the party’s leadership is committed to respecting the constitution and ensuring cohesion.
He urged Ondo citizens to vote for PDP candidate Agboola, whom he described as the hope for a brighter future.
“Go out and cast your votes for Agboola,” Adeleke encouraged. “PDP remains the only alternative for a better today and tomorrow for Ondo people.”
Joining Adeleke at the rally, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde echoed the call for unity, asserting that the PDP offers the best prospects for quality governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to Nigerians.
He urged voters to show their desire for good governance by electing the PDP candidate, whom he believes will advance Ondo’s development.
Further solidifying the party’s united front, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Muhammed, dismissed any speculation of divisions within the party.
“There is no faction in the PDP. We are one,” Muhammed declared, framing recent events as evidence of a strong and dynamic political party.
Former Ebonyi State Governor Sam Egwu also addressed the crowd, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the upcoming elections are free and fair, underscoring that democracy flourishes when the people’s will is upheld.
