Ondo State’s Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has refuted claims that he is fond of physically abusing his wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a statement issued by his media aide, Kenneth Odusola, Aiyedatiwa vehemently denied ever resorting to violence against his spouse throughout their marriage.
The deputy governor dismissed media reports accusing him of engaging in domestic abuse and assaulting his wife as baseless and false. He labelled these allegations as nothing more than a politically motivated smear campaign.
“It is utterly uncharitable for anyone to suggest that the Deputy Governor has perpetrated ‘multiple assaults’ on his spouse, who is currently residing outside the country. This is nothing but an extreme form of political blackmail,” the statement read.
Aiyedatiwa’s statement emphasised that the allegations of domestic abuse were fabricated by individuals with ulterior motives, intending to create unrest within the state.
He maintained that there had never been any domestic violence incidents between himself and his beloved wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, who has been residing in the United Kingdom for several years.
“The said allegation of domestic abuse is a figment of the imagination of those behind it and their ungodly intentions to cause a crisis in the state had been known for weeks and therefore such falsehood did not come as a surprise.
“While His Excellency reserves the right to privacy on issues pertaining to his family, it is pertinent to state clearly that there has never been any domestic violence between the Deputy Governor and his lovely wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, who at the moment is outside the shores of the country.
“It is not a secret that Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa has lived and worked in the United Kingdom for many years before her husband became an elected public official in Nigeria and since then she has been shuttling between the United Kingdom and Nigeria to take care of the home and the children who are also in the United Kingdom.”
