The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reassured the public that Governor Oluwaritimi Akeredolu, who has been receiving medical treatment outside the state, is in good spirits and making a steady recovery.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Aiyedatiwa, who has maintained regular contact with Governor Akeredolu, expressed confidence that the Governor will soon return to his duties.
“The Governor deeply appreciates the prayers and well wishes from everyone, both within and outside the state. He is in high spirits and making good progress towards returning to his official responsibilities. As soon as he receives medical clearance from his doctors, he will be back in office,” Aiyedatiwa said in the statement released.
The Acting Governor said he issued the statement in response to certain media reports that he attributed to “anonymous writers seeking to sow discord in the state.” He called on the public to disregard these false claims and manipulative tactics employed by desperate political figures across party lines.
“You are all aware of the Governor’s message to the people of Ondo State, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support and loyalty. I have personally been in touch with him, with our most recent conversation occurring on Sunday, during which he expressed his appreciation to me and the other members of the State Executive Council for holding the fort in his absence,” Aiyedatiwa added.
He further expressed gratitude to the public for their continuous display of love and solidarity. Aiyedatiwa emphasised the importance of remaining united in prayer and support for the well-being of Governor Akeredolu and the progress of the state.
”We crave for more cooperation and support from the good people of the State as well as ask for more restraints and circumspections on the part of groups and individuals whose actions and unwarranted vituperations in social circles and the media are capable of robbing off negatively on the image of the State.
“We therefore assure the people of Ondo state that there is no gap in governance. The government of Ondo State is on course, construction works are going on across the state and other official activities are also running well in line with standard practices.
“The security and welfare of the people being the primary constitutional mandate of government is enjoying top priority.
“The state government will not at any time renege on this important obligation to the people. We urge you all to continue to be law-abiding, peaceful and endeavour to pursue your legitimate businesses and activities unhindered,” the statement added.
