Onne Port: VP Shettima inaugurates 115 million dollars WACT facility

The vice president, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, September 4, inaugurated a 115 million dollar operational Terminal equipment at the Onne Seaport in Rivers State.

The ports upgrade was initiated by the West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) – a major terminal at the Onne Port and a subsidiary of APM Terminals.

The WACT facility at the Onne Port in Rivers State is cutting-edge terminal equipment, advanced technological equipment, an administrative building, maintenance workshop and an enhanced CCTV Surveillance System.

Shettima who was represented by his Personal Assistant on Subnational Infrastructure, Musaddiq Mustapha, said that the government at the national level is committed to the development of infrastructure towards economic growth.

The vice president also stated that the new facility at the port will boost operations at the terminal.

He said, ”“These equipment will provide expanded opportunities for trade development within the Nigerian maritime sector.

“‘The achievement also demonstrates dedication and commitment of the company and other stakeholders who have contributed resources and expertise to actualising this vision,” he said.
