Open-grazing ban: Ayade, Obiano arrive late as Southern Govs meet in Lagos [VIDEO]

POLITICS NIGERIA has obtained a video footage of southern governors who have arrived in Lagos state ahead of a meeting to further access the open grazing ban and other salient issues affecting the region.

The governors, including Ekiti’s Kayode Fayemi were received by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Alausa, Ikeja, the venue of their meeting on the state of the nation.

Meanwhile, some of the governors arrived late to the venue of the meeting. These include Cross River’s Ben Ayade and Anambra’s Willie Obiano.

POLITICS NIGERIA could not ascertain the cause of their lateness as of the time of filing this report.

Sequel to today’s meeting, a meeting was held on May 11, 2021, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where the governors jointly decided to enforce the ban on open grazing in all Southern states.

The Southern governors also agreed that the progress of the country required that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of state police.

They further called for the review of the revenue allocation formula in favor of the sub-national governments as well as the creation of other institutions which legitimately advance commitment to the practice of true federalism.
