Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan for the Position of Senate President in the 9th National Assembly.
Lawan alongside the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, visited Chief Kalu at his Abuja residence on Sunday seeking his blessing for the ‘Number 3’ position in the Country. In a statement made available to Politics Nigeria, Chief Kalu announced his support for Lawan, who has been his longtime friend.
“Today, I endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan at my Abuja residence. Asides us being former class/roommates for over a year at the University of Maiduguri, I also believe our party’s decision will ensure a smooth cohesion between the 9thNASS & the Executive for the best of Nigerians.”
Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has been a Senator since May 2007 representing Yobe North. The 60-year-old is a graduate of Geography from the University of Maiduguri. The battle for the position of Senate President is currently heating up as other Senators like Danjuma Goje and Ali Ndume who are also scheming to get elected.
Lawan is currently the anointed candidate of his party, All Progressives Congress, APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.
