Orji Kalu opens up on resolving to support Biafra struggle

Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Wednesday debunked some reports circulating on social media that he has given up on Nigeria and chosen to support Biafra agitation.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a report being circulated online by proponents of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) claimed Kalu, a 2023 presidential aspirant, is disappointed to have been betrayed by those in government. It said Kalu complained over ‘negligence’ from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I have done everything for Nigeria. I gave land to herdsmen in Lokpanta (in Umu-Nneochi, Abia State). I built over 2,000 companies in the north without even one in Abia just because of my love for one Nigeria.

“In all these, what I get in return was betrayal and sabotage. Now, I couldn’t even get Vice-Presidential tickets not to talk of presidential tickets. With this kind of gesture, tell me why this country will be united. Now, IPOB members will be laughing at me because before now, they’ve told me that I won’t get any opportunity to lead Nigeria,” Kalu allegedly said.

Reacting via his official Facebook page this afternoon, Kalu said: “Please disregard the fake news. Thanks.”
