Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, has been named the best striker in the Italian Serie A for the 2022 and 2023 football season.
The organiser of the Italian topflight, Lega Serie A, announced the information on their Twitter handle on Friday, June 2.
The Napoli striker beat AC Milan forward Rafael Leao and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez to the individual accolade.
Osimhen played a vital role in Napoli’s Scudetto win, the club’s first in over 30 years.
The 24-year-old striker scored 25 league goals for the Partenopei this season.
The 2022–23 campaign ends on Sunday, and Osimhen is on track to be named Capocannoniere (top scorer).
Osimhen’s Napoli teammate, Kim Min-Jae, emerged as the best defender.
Osimhne was recently honoured with the Member of the order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government.
“I feel so blessed and grateful as I announce that I have been awarded the prestigious Member of the order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award by the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he wrote on his Twitter handle in reaction to the honour.
