The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has vowed to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking in Ijesa during the weekend, state chairman of the APC, Tajudeen Lawal, enjoined party members not to lose hope but stay committed towards reclaiming power in 2026.
Politics Nigeria recalls that the APC lost the July 16, 2022 governorship election to Governor Ademola Adeleke and all National Assembly seats to the PDP due to internal party crisis.
Lawal, however, vowed to deal with APC members who were engaged in anti-party activities during the last elections in the state.
“No member of the party involved in anti-party during the last governorship and general elections in the state will be spared. I want to appeal to genuine members of the party not to lose hope because, come 2026, we shall return to power,” he said.
Lawal dismissed claims by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola of restructuring the APC in Osun adding that the party would remain under the leadership of Chief Baba Bisi Akande and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
