Osun assembly summons commissioner over cash palliatives

Following the plan of Osun state government to disburse cash payment to indigents amidst Coronavirus lockdown, the House of Assembly has summoned the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yemi Lawal.

Mr Lawal is to appear before the House on Thursday, POLITICS NIGERIA learned.

Timothy Owoeye, the Speaker of the assembly, made this known during the plenary session of Wednesday.

said.“We are aware of plans by the state government to disburse cash palliatives to residents of the State. It is important for the Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports to appear before the house tomorrow and intimate us on the beneficiaries and the modalities for disbursement”, he was quoted.

This newspaper reported how the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola said there will be payment of stipends due to 25,907 vulnerable citizens in the state.

According to Mr Oyetola, the set of people living with disabilities and the aged are 15,289 and captured under the Special Grant Transfer (SGT).

There is also a Public Work Fare (PWF) which is designed for the youths and the beneficiaries under this are 10,618.
