A public commentator, Deji Adeyanju, on Friday advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “stand very firm” and prevent rigging in the Osun State governorship election holding on Saturday.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that 15 candidates were cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election but Gboyega Oyetola (All Progressives Congress, APC), Senator Ademola Adeleke (PDP), Lasun Yusuf (LP) and Akin Ogunbiyi Accord Party (AP) are the standout contenders.
Many people believe Senator Adeleke was rigged out in the 2018 gubernatorial election in Osun State, hence it is being predicted in some quarters that he will usurp the ruling APC.
“PDP must stand very firm tomorrow to prevent rigging of the election. They need to mobilize people in hundreds around PUs & prepare at every point for thugs especially in their strongholds. Adeleke has already won the election like in 2018 but will he be able to defend the votes?” Adeyanju wrote on his verified Facebook page.
The Osun election 2022 is the last major election before the 2023 presidential election and is a sort of dress rehearsal for next year’s polls.
