The Supreme Court on Monday fixed Tuesday, May 9, to deliver a judgment in the disputed July 16 governorship election in Osun State.
Nigeria politics reports recalls that Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was announced the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, had approached the apex court following the decision of the electoral body to pronounce Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the election.
Oyetola’s lawyer, prayed the court to uphold the ruling of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that pronounced Adeleke as the legal winner of the election and discard the judgment by the appeal court.
A five-member panel of the Supreme Court announced the date after taking arguments from lawyers to parties on Monday. The Supreme Court has fixed May 9 for judgment in the appeal filed by former Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola against the election of Ademola Adeleke.
