Our economy is like a body going to the gym – Minister tells Nigerians

Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economy has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking in an interview for an upcoming TV documentary marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second anniversary, Bagudu said Nigeria’s economy is like someone who has just hit the gym and would in turn witness a significant turnaround.

Details of the interview were contained in a press statement released on Wednesday, May 14, by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on Information and strategy.

According to Onanuga, the minister noted that though tough, the policy reforms initiated and implemented by President Tinubu would pay off for the people in due time.

He also said that every member of the president’s cabinet is committed to delivering a robust economy across sectors of the nation.

Badugu said, “Our economy is like a body going to the gym. It might feel painful now, but the muscles of progress are forming.

“Mr President is saying: ‘I’m ready to take the pain so our children and grandchildren will inherit a more prosperous Nigeria.’ This isn’t just economic reform – it’s a moral responsibility,” Bagudu added.
