A viral video allegedly showing Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, the House of Representatives member for Aba North & South Federal Constituency, assaulting an Uber driver in Abuja has ignited a wave of public anger and calls for accountability.
The footage reportedly captures Ikwechegh’s heated reaction after the driver asked him to leave his Maitama residence to collect a delivery.
In the video, Ikwechegh appears visibly enraged, confronting the driver for what he perceived as a lack of respect.
He claimed the driver had no right to inconvenience him like that.” The altercation allegedly escalated when Ikwechegh slapped the driver multiple times, later tearing his shirt, which was evident in a clip where the driver appeared shirtless, asserting that the lawmaker tore his clothes.

The video has sparked widespread condemnation, with social media users condemning Ikwechegh’s alleged abuse of power.
A user, @MayJaYBaE, expressed outrage, writing, “He said he’d make him disappear just because he asked him to come outside. This is the height of classism.”
Calls for the driver to seek legal action have also been prevalent. “Find a lawyer and sue that man. This is a life-changing opportunity with evidence,” advised user @ChuksOhaxx.
Others, however, were sceptical of a fair outcome, suggesting Ikwechegh’s political influence might shield him from consequences.
“Even if he sues for assault,” posted @Seankleann, “I don’t think the Police will do justice. He’s a NOBODY, and this will likely be swept under the carpet.”
Nigerians continue to demand accountability, urging authorities to act decisively against any abuse of power by public officials.
