’IPOB wasting its goodwill’ – Aisha Yesufu

Nigerian socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu on Wednesday said the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is “wasting its goodwill on sit-at-home orders”.

Yesufu asked IPOB to consider an alliance with a political party other than the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “bring the South East together politically”.

“An APGA/IPOB alliance can bring the South East together politically. Instead of IPOB wasting it’s goodwill on giving sit at home orders they can make it nominate and vote credible candidates “order”. Political power is everything! Without it you are a pawn to be treated anyhow.

“With that power you can negotiate with any party wanting to win Presidential elections and give the terms for your alliance. Any party interested in winning the region must be ready to meet your terms. That way no party takes the region for granted as belonging to one party,” Yesufu’s tweet reads in part.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that IPOB’s sit-at-home orders is an exercise which the controversial group says it is observing due to the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu by Nigerian authorities.

The orders have been blamed for crippling businesses and movement in the southeast region. Despite IPOB rescinding its calls for a boycott of the November 6 governorship elections in Anambra State, only about a tenth of the 2.5 million registered voters showed up.
