Panic As Lagos Records 32 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that Lagos State has recorded 32 news cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a tweet on Friday night, the center said four new deaths fromCOVID-19 complications and 51 fresh cases of the disease have been recorded in the country.

NCDC added that there are currently 493 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, 159 recoveries and 17 deaths.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this is the highest number of cases confirmed in a single day in Nigeria.

“Fifty-one new cases of #COVID19 have been reported; 32 in Lagos; 6 in Kano; 5 in Kwara; 2 in FCT; 2 in Oyo; 2 in Katsina; and one in Ogun and Ekiti,” the tweet read.

“As at 10:10 pm 17th April there are 493 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 159
Deaths: 17.”

The new cases were detected after NCDC announced that it had conducted over 500 tests within 24 hours.

From 6,649 cases on Thursday, the agency disclosed that the number of tests conducted at Friday evening were 7153, an increase of 504.
