There was a dramatic scene at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a car caught fire in front of the party’s main entrance.
The red car, with Benue State registration number TSE – 423 – AA, suddenly caught fire while coming from Barcelona Hotels on Blantyre street in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja.
The incident occurred during a solidarity rally by some APC members from the North Central, expressing support for the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The driver of the car, which caught fire, refused to speak when approached by witnesses.
Daily Trust reports that the commotion led to a rush for safety among workers at the secretariat, with shouts of ‘fire, fire.’
Quick intervention by some drivers and security operatives at the APC secretariat managed to put out the fire. The red car was later moved away from the entrance gate after the fire was extinguished.
An eyewitness named Abdullahi praised the quick action of the driver, preventing what could have been a more serious incident.
