A missionary pastor in the Bwai district of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, has recounted how suspected Fulani militants carried out coordinated attacks on several communities, leaving more than 30 people dead and destroying homes and property.

Speaking in a video shared on social media on Tuesday, the pastor said the attackers, who invaded the affected villages in large numbers, killed men, women, and children before setting houses and food stores ablaze. He described the incident as one of the most devastating experiences of his life.

“I am a missionary. I live in Ruff, close to Bwai district in Mangu LGA,” he said. “The surrounding communities fall under my missionary coverage. What happened was a serious attack by Fulani militants who came at night and stormed a village called Kubat.”

According to him, about 30 people of different ages were killed in the raid. He added that similar attacks were carried out in other villages, including Murish and Jwak.

The pastor narrated how, while on their way to one of the affected communities for a mass burial, the attackers allegedly ambushed them.

“They were shooting at us. We had to crawl on the ground to avoid being hit. By the grace of God, none of us was injured,” he said.

He explained that houses, food barns, and other valuables were completely burnt, leaving survivors displaced and helpless.

“We saw the attackers in their hundreds, armed with sophisticated weapons, exchanging fire with the military,” he recounted.

He said 29 victims were buried in Fungzai on Tuesday morning, and another mass burial was planned in Kubat, but security operatives advised against proceeding due to fears that the attackers were still in the area.

“People are fleeing the communities. The situation is terrible. These attacks were well-planned and coordinated, and they have achieved their aim,” he lamented.
