PDP Accuses Imo Govt Of Sponsoring Thugs Against Party With N25 Million

The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Imo State, has accused the Hope Uzodinma led-state government of sponsoring thugs against them with N25 million.

Amidst this allegation, the party also alleged that the police refused to provide them with adequate security in the state.

The party chairman, Martin Ejiogu, made all these allegations during a supposed welcome-home-party for their leader, Emeka Ihedioha, into the state months after the controversial Supreme Court judgement of January 14.

While addressing party loyalists, Mr Ejiogu at the state secretariat on Friday accused the police of victimising his party members.

“They (the police) told us that they can not guarantee the security of our people, that they cannot guarantee the safety of our people”

“We battled with them, we did everything, but they denied our request, at some point, we have to read other things which they approved and that approval was that our elected governor will come from the airport and straight to his house, nobody to receive him and we said no”, he told his members.

“They (government) said they don’t have money, but the Supreme Court Governor has ₦25 Million to hire thugs from neighbouring States to fight us”.

Speaking on the removal of Emeka Ihedioha, the party’s secretary, Nze Emeana said the government can stop the people’s will.

Another chieftain of the party, Uche Onyeagocha said: “What we have in Imo is an unelected governor, what we have is a coronavirus governor and we shall find his vaccine soon”.
