Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election, on Saturday, asked aggrieved members of the party to embrace the reconciliation mechanism set up by the party.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Atiku, who was in Gombe State for a wedding ceremony, expressed confidence that in the end, he will work with those who are not presently happy with some developments in the PDP.
He stated that he is not expecting aggrieved party members like governors Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde, Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom of Rivers, Oyo, Abia and Benue states respectively, to ‘work for’ any other presidential candidate.
The PDP is embroiled in an internal crisis, which has resulted in some major stakeholders asking the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to resign, although the former Senator is adamant.
“I’m still talking to aggrieved members of the party and I believe at the end of the day we will work together,” Atiku said.
That’s nice talk.
