PDP crisis: Wike commits to ceasefire in battle against Atiku, Ayu [DETAILS]

As the 2023 elections approach, the lingering crisis tearing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) apart appears to have been resolved according to a governorship candidate of the party.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the gubernatorial hopeful was speaking hours after he alongside 17 other governorship candidates of the party visited Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, at his private residence in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (LGA).

Some of the governorship candidates who were at the meeting include those from Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa, and 15 other states.

“We had a useful discussion and the outcome was positive. Governor Wike made us feel at home during the meeting.

“At the end of the meeting, Wike committed to a ceasefire and being an honourable man, the governor will not do anything that will hurt the interest of the party once all the matters are discussed,” Vanguard quotes the governorship candidate as saying.

This newspaper reports that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party will meet today (Thursday) to discuss party affairs ahead of the 2023 general elections.

It would also be recalled that Wike was conspicuously absent at a meeting Atiku held with 2023 Ex-Presidential candidates of the party. Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Anyim Pius Anyim were also absent from the meeting held on Wednesday in Atiku’s private residence in Asokoro, Abuja.

Those Present include; Dele Momodu, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Tari Oliver, and Charles Ugwu.
