PDP deputy women leader resigns, gives reason

The deputy national women leader of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, has resigned her position.

In her resignation letter addressed to the acting national chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagun, Wanka said her resignation followed the opportunity given to her by the Bauchi state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to serve as commissioner in his government.

Wanka expressed gratitude to the national leadership of the PDP for the rare privilege given to her to serve as the party’s deputy national women leader and to Governor Mohammed for finding her worthy to serve in his cabinet.

Wanka noted that the experience she gained while serving in the PDP would immensely enhance her performance as a commissioner in Bauchi state.

She was among the 24 commissioner-nominees’ list sent to the State House of Assembly by Governor Mohammed and screened and confirmed by the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has accepted and congratulated Hajiya Yakubu Wanka on her appointment as commissioner.
