“PDP disciplinary committee never summoned Wike” – Senator Nwogu

Senator Olaka Nwogu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Disciplinary Committee, has denied reports claiming that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had been summoned by the party over alleged anti-party activities.

The reports suggested that Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, was being summoned due to his ongoing rift with the current Rivers Governor, Siminialayi Fubara.

In a statement, Nwogu dismissed the reports as false, explaining that the committee had not yet convened to discuss any issues concerning Wike.

“I am a member of the disciplinary committee of the party. I was disturbed when the report came that Nyesom Wike had been summoned at a time when the disciplinary committee has not even met to consider any of these things,” he said.

Nwogu, a former senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, attributed the spread of the misinformation to individuals who were familiar with the situation but had chosen to mislead the public for personal reasons.

He stated that there had been no discussions within the committee concerning Wike or his actions.

“There has been a lot of misinformation to the public, sometimes by people who should know better, who shouldn’t do that for reasons they know best,” Nwogu added.

He also addressed the growing allegations and attempts to misrepresent the committee’s work, stating that the committee is still in the process of organizing itself to properly address its responsibilities.

Nwogu urged the public to disregard the misleading reports and affirmed that the committee would focus on its mandate when the time comes.
