Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s former Social Media aide, Reno Omokri, on Monday warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and other opposition parties ‘not to lower their guard’ following the PDP’s triumph in the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP won the Osun Governorship Election at the weekend. He polled 403,371 votes to defeat his closest rival, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 375,927 votes.
For Omokri, money is a factor when it comes to voting in Nigeria. He stated that Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, who stoutly supported Oyetola, “simply met his match in Osun”.
“#OsunDecides2022 did not prove that money no longer buy votes. In a country with 80 million extremely poor people, it is naive to think so. Tinubu simply met his match in Osun. It will be a fatal mistake if the PDP or other parties lower their guard because of Osun,” Omokri wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
