Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has said that the Peoples Democratic party, PDP lost the general elections in 2019 because the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC manipulated election results.
Mohammed, who was interviewed on Channels Television on Thursday, disclosed that his party PDP lost as a result on electoral manipulation by the APC in cahoots with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and Security Operatives.
It will be recalled that Atiku Abubakar was the Presidential candidate of the PDP and President Muhammadu Buhari was the candidate of the APC. Buhari coasted to victory over 3 million votes ahead of Atiku.
“The general impression within the party and within the country is that we actually won the election and that we lost to a lot of fraud, to a lot of manipulations either by the electoral umpire or by the security operatives,”.
He added that his party, the PDP is actively working to make sure such does not occur again. “We are not only looking at the other side, but we are also looking at ourselves, looking at our internal politics, and giving a level playing field for the youths and women who are a majority in terms of demographics and in terms of interest.
“And of course, making sure that the electoral umpire, the INEC that is now instituting some reforms will also become impartial,” Mohammed disclosed.
