The highest decision-making body of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Executive Council (NEC), is expected to convene “as soon as it becomes feasible” to deliberate on issues thrown up by the turn of events in the past two days.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the PDP has been enmeshed in a major internal crisis after its presidential primary last May that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate.
On Tuesday, it’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, stepped aside after intense pressure from some top party chieftains led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
But speaking on the crisis which has rocked the party since last year, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi told Punch: “A NEC meeting will be held as soon as it becomes feasible. It is in the works, but we have not fixed a date for it yet.”
