PDP Reacts As Gov Zulum Takes Strong Action Against NNPP Chieftain

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday condemned the demolition of a plaza owned by a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Attom Magira in Borno State.

Describing the action as a political witch-hunt, the PDP’s spokesperson in Borno, Amos Adziba said the action by the governor shows some level of intolerance.

Adziba said the demolition is nothing short of wickedness and a cowardly act that could only be driven by political vendetta.

“It is a direct attempt by the APC to intimidate opposition voices and silence dissent in Borno State and the country at large,”Adziba said.

Dismissing justification by the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) on the need for the demoliition process, Adziba accused the state government of carrying out such act in the dead of the night.

“The APC-led government could not even wait for the court process to be completed, simply because they know they are pursuing an illegal agenda.

“The timing of this operation, carried out in the dead of night and under the cover of darkness, exposes the state government’s desperation and the unwholesome nature of its actions,” he said.

The PDP further assured the NNPP chieftain of the party’s support while calling on the Zulum’s government to abandon what it described as undemocratic path of oppression and intimidation.
