The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recommended the expulsion of former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the party’s Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Transition Committee, Chief Olalekan Amerijoye, disclosed this to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti.
Amerijoye said the party would no longer tolerate Fayose’s “unwholesome and anti-party activities.”
He added that the party had forwarded its resolutions and decisions to the National Working Committee (NWC), seeking Fayose’s expulsion.
“The genuine members of Ekiti PDP have resolved from our recent meeting on what should be the punitive measures for people that have turned the party into a commercial venture,” Amerijoye said.
“These resolutions have been communicated to headquarters in Abuja by some individuals who are ‘PDAPC’ and we are patiently waiting for their response in the interest of the PDP in Ekiti.”
Fayose has been a thorn in the side of the PDP leadership in recent months. He has been critical of the immediate past party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and had, during the last general election, suggested that he may support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
