PDP to Lagosians: Be like Edo people, Say No to Godfatherism

The Lagos state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Lagosian to emulate the people of Edo state and reject Godfatherism.

Akin Doherty, state Chairman of the opposition PDP, made this known in a statement on Monday while reacting to the re-election of Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki in Saturday’s governorship poll.

Doherty congratulated Obaseki for winning the election despite huge resistance from Adams Oshiomole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC. He also commended the governor for fighting hard and standing firm against godfatherism.

He, however, urged Lagosians to take part in the October 31 legislative polls to say no to godfatherism and “the continuous stranglehold of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Doherty said the PDP’s victory in Edo proved that excesses of APC national leaders were “a fluke and a mirage”.

He said: “These excesses can be suppressed by the collective decisions and cooperation of the good people of Lagos State”, the PDP chairman noted.

“We remind all and sundry that our freedom from the clutches of the APC can only be realized if we come out to vote in our candidates Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi and Hon. Ademola Alebiosu on the platform of the PDP.

“Once again we congratulate the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and the entire people of Edo State on this historical national victory against the oppressors of good governance.”
