Cross River Renaissance Movement, a PDP-affiliated political group, has voiced discontent with the APC’s “rudderless leadership” while rallying support for governor Nyesom Wike to replace President Buhari in 2023.
The announcement was made in front of media journalists at the Ernest Etim Bassey NUJ press centre following their meeting in Calabar on Tuesday.
Nigerians are disappointed with the leadership offered by the ruling APC in the previous six years, according to a statement read by the group’s spokesperson, Mr Gab Odu Oji.
“We hereby call on governor Wike, to declare for the 2023 Presidential elections in order to salvage Nigeria as clearly demonstrated in his outing as Governor of Rivers State.
“He is a Nationalist who truly believes in the unity and indissolubility of Nigeria and has clearly demonstrated this in his uncompromising stance against separatist agitations and His liberal posture as demonstrated during the Sokoto fire inferno,” the released statement said.
The group also praised Governor Wike’s ingenuity in social control when dealing with the security crisis in the Niger Delta, which has resulted in long-term stability in the region, and saw this attribute as a significant panacea for resolving the country’s present security difficulties.
“At a time like this where truth is lacking in our polity, at a time when the current failed APC government is intimidating every opposing voice in the country through the use of state machineries, he remained very bold and courageous in confronting issues of National concerns,” they said.
