Peter Obi got more than 6 million votes in 2023 – PDP chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sergius Ogun has said that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party garnered more than six million votes in the last election.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Ogun said the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members have continued to contradict themselves by accepting politicians from a party which they had earlier condemned.

Speaking on the outcome of the last election on AIT’s Focus Nigeria, Ogun said the Labour Party and its presidential candidate exhibited unprecedented independence during the 2023 general election.

Describing Obi’s campaign strategy as a people-oriented politics, Ogun said the Labour Party was able to achieve a great feat during the election without any form of political backup.

“That’s why we gave an example of (Peter) Obi,” he said.

The former lawmaker said he is convinced that the former governor alongside his team could still achieve the same feat in 2027.

“Labour Party did not merge with anybody and let’s be honest, whatever manipulation they did, Obi got more than the six million votes that they allotted him — and in 2027, can they do this?” Ogun queried.
