Peter Obi pays condolence visit to Makarfi, makes donation to Almajiri school in Kaduna

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party has condoled with the former governor of Kaduna State over the death of his son, Faisal.

Obi alongside his forerunner, Yusuf Datti, visited Makarfi and his family in Kaduna on Thursday.

In a post shared alongside photographs on his personal X account, Obi said they prayed to God to console the family over such a sad occurrence.

He also asked God to grant them the fortitude to bear the sad and irreplaceable loss.

“May Almighty Allah, who called Faisal home at this time, forgive his sins and grant him Aljanna Firdausi. May God continue to protect and bless the Makarfi family, always,” he said.

Continuing, the former Anambra State governor said that he also visited Almajiri schools in the state to make some donations.

His words, “From there, we visited one of the Almajiri schools in the State, which I had been supporting, to see the progress they have so far made.

“Earlier in the year, when I first visited the school, I found out that they had very dilapidated infrastructure, no functional toilet system, and no source of water supply, which were very important to them.

“I then made a financial donation towards providing these critical facilities for the children,” he said.

According to Obi, when he arrived at the school, he was happy to see that with his previous support, their infrastructure was improved.

He said the school now has a decent toilet facility and two functional boreholes.

He said, “Being impressed with this achievement, I donated another N5 million to the school and assured them of my support in ensuring that the children continue to enjoy a better education, which is their currency for future opportunities in life.

“We remain committed to building a Nigeria that gives our children the right training and empowerment to access brighter opportunities in life,” Obi added.
