Peter Obi sends touching message to Wizkid over mother’s death

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has sent a condolence message to Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, aka Wizkid, over the demise of his mother.

Obi, via Twitter on Saturday, August 19, prayed to God to grant Wizkid and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“On behalf of the OBIdient family, I sincerely commiserate with Mr Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, (Wizkid), who reportedly lost his beloved mother. The death of a loved one is a very painful experience, more so a beloved mother,” Obi said.

“Dear Wizkid, may God Almighty who called her home grant her eternal rest in His kingdom and grant you and your family the fortitude to bear her irreplaceable loss. God bless you always.”

The death of Wizkid’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, was confirmed by Sunday Are, his longtime manager.

Are on Friday, August 18, said: “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am.”

Aside Wizkid, she was mother to two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.
