A secret mistress of Ex-governor, Ikedi Ohakim has been arraigned in court on Friday for giving ‘false information’.
Justice Halilu Yusuf of Federal Capital Territory high court sitting in Maitama Abuja on Thursday, granted bail to Miss Chinyere Amuchienwa Igwegbe, Ohakim’s secret lover.
Amuchienwa was in court to face charges of providing false information in a petition she wrote against Dr Ohakim.
In a petition to the Inspector general of Police, Mrs Igwegbe had accused Ohakim of conspiracy, criminal intimidation, defamation of character, attempted kidnapping and threat to life as well as accepting payment of a sum of N500M for the purchase of a land in Lagos but failed to provide any single evidence to back up her claims.
However, in the 4-count charge against Amuchienwa, the Nigerian police force claims that the allegations were aimed at blackmailing Ohakim and one Chinedu Okpareke. The defendant who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was brought to Court from Police custody.
Presiding Judge, Ifeanyi Nweze granted her bail and also ordered her to deposit her travel documents. The case was adjourned to 28th October 2021 for trial.
