Photos have emerged of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) performing Sajdah.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the photos are believed to have been taken during the Jumat prayers last Friday.
Sajdah which is the prostration during the Muslim daily prayers is one of the most important pillars in Islam. Muslims perform Sajdah in every prayer and thus in every rakat of the Salah, two sujud are performed. The number of sujud performed by Muslims depends on the number of Rakat.
Since he joined the 2023 presidential race, pictures of Tinubu performing the Solat (prayer) in a sitting position often elicit a lot of comments from Nigerians on social media. His critics question his health status, and conclude that the 70-year-old is not physically fit to lead Nigeria.
Standing during prayer is an obligatory pillar which cannot be omitted. It is not permissible for anyone to pray sitting unless he is unable to stand, or standing is very difficult for him, or he is sick and there is the fear that his sickness may become worse if he prays standing up.
That also includes a paralyzed person who is unable to stand at all, and an elderly person for whom it is difficult to stand, and a sick person who will be harmed by standing because it will either make his sickness worse or delay his recovery.
DWELLING TOO MUCH ON IRRELEVANCE.
Religion is both personal and private to individual and both his God and conscience.
