26 travellers killed by hoodlums on their way back from Islamic event on Saturday have been Identified.
This newspaper earlier reported that the travellers were attacked at the Rukuba road in Jos North, Plateau State of North Central Nigeria while on their way back to Ikare, Ondo State.
According to Eyewitness reports, the attackers were conveyed in 5 coaster buses. They intercepted the travellers and started beating, stoning them injuring 20 and killing 26. About 34 people are still missing.
Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong has since instituted a curfew to prevent reprisal attacks and a possible breakdown of law and order. The incident now dubbed ‘Rukuba Massacre’ has drawn severe condemnations from all over the country.
Security agents have been deployed to the scene and a manhunt has been launched for the Pepertrators.
