Chelsea Football Club is reportedly nearing a final decision on who will be appointed as their next permanent manager.
It is believed that former Paris Saint-Germain head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, is the frontrunner for the highly coveted position.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, discussions between Chelsea and Pochettino are set to enter a crucial phase this week, as the club is eager to secure a new leader to succeed caretaker manager Frank Lampard at the end of the season.
It has been suggested that Pochettino may have the edge over his competition, which includes former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
According to Fabrizio, “talks between Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea will continue this week to enter into crucial stages,” Romano tweeted on Monday morning.
“He’s the favourite to get the job since Thursday, Luis Enrique & Nagelsmann are out. This week, key to make final decision.
“Kompany appreciated — but Pochettino is ahead.”
