The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy, Solomon Ibiwoye, after he was found in possession of a firearm in the Ebute-Ero area of Lagos.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Sunday via a post on X (formerly Twitter), praising the alertness of residents whose timely tip-off led to the teenager’s apprehension.
“Kudos to observant Lagosians who noticed 16-year-old Solomon Ibiwoye with a firearm and discreetly alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division,” Hundeyin wrote.
Following the arrest, a search of Ibiwoye’s residence uncovered a locally fabricated firearm and an unexpended cartridge.
“One more firearm off the streets,” Hundeyin added, assuring the public that investigations are ongoing to determine how the teenager came into possession of the weapon.
While the police spokesperson did not disclose whether Ibiwoye is linked to any criminal gang, he reiterated the importance of public vigilance in supporting security efforts across the state.
“See something, say something!” Hundeyin wrote.
